Catherine Mellinger (she/they) is an Expressive Arts Therapist (EXAT), Perinatal Mental Health Therapist (CC-PMH), an artist working in mixed media collage and inter-arts installations as well as a community embedded arts facilitator for over 15 years. Their mixed media works have been exhibited across Turtle Island and published Internationally. Originally from land belonging to Treaty 6 (Colonially named Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) she currently lives and works in what is colonially named Waterloo, land included in the Haldimand Tract and belonging to the Neutral, Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabe peoples. They currently work in private practice, as well as being a MA Theology student - Spiritualities and Community Engagement - at Martin Luther University College (Wilfrid Laurier). They are interested in researching the connection between Expressive Arts Therapy offering liminal spaces of art making as a comparative to mystical spiritual experiences, as well as the intersections of historical spiritual frameworks of motherhood and parenting compared to current societal secular frameworks which position parents as drivers of economy.
